The Arizona TES Mapper (Mapper) was designed with a twofold purpose:
- Investigating and visualizing the results of agency-specific enforcement efforts, and
- Identifying relationships between enforcement efforts across government agencies.
Ultimately, the Mapper helps users narrow the list of all current tobacco retailers down to those they wish to focus on for future work.
The Mapper has four main goals:
-
Visualize: Mapping enforcement data
The Mapper shows the point locations of all tobacco retailers in the state of Arizona as well as the location of inspections performed (timeframe defined by data availability for each agency). Users are able to zoom in and out on the map and click individual retailers to identify the name and address of the retailer as well as view enforcement result data from any agency that inspected that location. The Mapper also links users to inspection results in the database.
-
Investigate: Data query
A set of query tools is provided in the mapper for common, agency-specific and advanced query building. Users can create the query criteria of interest to them, filtering the list of retailers by location, neighborhood demographic, and/or any variety of inspection results’ questions. That query of retailers which meet the filtering criteria is shown on the map, available to download as an Excel document, or ready to send to the SAC for assignment in future enforcement efforts.
-
Summarize: Reports
Agency-specific summary reports are available for download in the Mapper. Summary reports include inspection results overview for each agency by county, corporation compliance summary, and youth volunteer summary report.
-
Provide agency-specific tools
The Mapper includes two agency-specific tools:
- A link to the FDA data upload page;
- A sampling tool designed to draw a yearly sample of stores for Synar inspection.
